Assistant Professor of Music Brian Russell uses his iPad to record conducting students, and let them critique their performance.

Since fall of 1996, a select group of Illinois Wesleyan students has the opportunity to study for the year at Pembroke College, Oxford University, as part of the Pembroke Visiting Student Programme. Professor Streeter, who founded the Illinois Wesleyan Jazz Program over 40 years ago, retired in May 2011. Several activities throughout the school year 2010-2011 celebrated his contributions to the University, with the final event being an all-trombone alumni choir concert held on April 15, 2011 in Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall. Eric Gardner, class of '89, presented the university with The Complete Fortune Teller and Dream Book, a rare early 19th century chapbook. Stored in Archives and Special Collections at Ames Library, more information on Mr. Gardner and the rare book can be found here.

Trustee emeritus Flora Harris Armstrong '43 provided the funding for the rotunda's 20-foot-high glass sculpture, which was designed by Arizona artist Lyle London. More information can be found in the following article.

The exhibit on the first floor of the Ames Library celebrated the history of nursing at Illinois Wesleyan in honor of the 50^th anniversary of the School of Nursing. Meg Miner, University Archivist and Special Collections Librarian, gets help from student worker, Mujtaba Isani '10.

Volunteers from across campus read from their favorite banned books during a Banned Books Read-Out in front of the Ames Library. The event was organized by the library in recognition of Banned Books Week.

In celebration of World Poetry Day, the IWU Greek & Roman Studies department organized a marathon reading of Homer's The Odyssey, held in the Ames Library. The Minor Myers statue outside of the library was decorated in honor of the event.

Children of all ages attending the marathon reading of The Odyssey could also take part in arts & crafts while listening to the poem. Sponsored by the Greek and Roman Studies Program, the "Homerathon" began at 2 pm on March 21st and continued non-stop until 6 am on the 22nd, with a succession of volunteers reading from the poem.

Professor Balina was one of many volunteers to take part in the Homerathon, the marathon reading of Homer's The Odyssey, in celebration of World Poetry Day.
