Award Description

Adlai H. Rust '14, speaker at the alumni dinner, is one of Wesleyan's outstanding alumni. Mr. Rust, after a successful career as a lawyer and insurance man, is now president of the State Farm Insurance Companies. That he is outstanding in his field is evidenced by the fact that he was one of the insurance men of the country called in for consultation by President Eisenhower concerning pending insurance problems. Following graduation from Wesleyan, Mr. Rust practiced law and taught in the Wesleyan law school. He was a legal consultant to the State Farm Company in its early days. The company work gradually became so heavy that he finally devoted his entire time to it. Under his leadership, the organization has become the largest automobile insurance company in the world. He has many other interests, among them-fortunately for Wesleyan -his Alma Mater.
