Award Description
"Be true to your school" is personified by Mike and Jane Clark of Arlington Heights, Ill. Volunteer service and financial support to lllinois Wesleyan began almost at graduation. Together, the Clarks are members of the President's Club and the Board of Visitors, have been Alumni Career Days speakers, captained Chicago-area phonothons, and served as admissions representatives. Jane was also a member of IWU's Alumni Council, serving one term as secretary. Last winter Mike hosted a Chicago Connection, and he serves on the board of the Chicago Wesleyan Associates, and is currently involved in The Campaign for Illinois Wesleyan as Near Northwest Chicago Area chair. He had previously chaired the Campaign Advisory Committee for the same region. Mike, a summa cum laude political science graduate and a 1979 magna cum laude alumnus of Harvard law school, is a partner in the Chicago law firm of Hopkins and Sutter, specializing in tax litigation and charitable trusts, and is also a Certified Public Accountant. Jane followed her nursing degree at IWU with a master's degree in cardiovascular nursing at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. in 1981. She holds the professional designation of Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) and is currently a Clinical Educator, Clinical Support and Development, at Glenbrook Hospital, Glenview, Ill. The Clarks are parents of Stephen,11, and Christopher, 9.
