In 1958, Illinois Wesleyan devised a plan to start the IWU School of Nursing. Their doors officially opened in 1959, which was the first year of the four-year program leading to the bachelor of science in nursing degree. In 2003, the School of Nursing expanded its offerings and was renamed the School of Nursing and Health Sciences.
