At its inception, the Honors Day Convocation was dedicated to those students who have achieved an outstanding scholastic record. Over the years it became more closely associated with honoring faculty members, particularly the Kemp award winner and past honorees, as well as retiring faculty members. A name change in recognition of this evolving tradition took place in 2021.

Student inductees into Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Beta Kappa, as well as other student honorees and award recipients, will continue to be acknowledged by inclusion in the traditional program booklet. Discussions are underway about how best to honor our outstanding students in the future.

This collection holds copies of all programs for the ceremony. All speeches -- in both text and audiovisual formats -- by "Honorees for Teaching Excellence" that are available in the University Archives are also collected here. Contact archives@iwu.edu if you have additions for this collection or questions.
