Abstract

To what extent do state level welfare policies affect single mothers in poverty? Census Bureau data is used to determine whether or not state policies are moving female heads of households out ofpoverty or merely of/ of the weljbre rolls. Time 4 limits, the family cap, maximum benefits and the earned income tax credit are independents assessed in this study.
