Presented by Illinois Wesleyan University’s School of Theatre Arts, April 12-17, 2005. The production was directed by Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts Sara Freeman, and featured scenic designs by Professor Curtis Trout, lighting designs by Josh Epstein, and costume designs by Marcia McDonald.

Set in 18th century England, A Bold Stroke For A Wife was first performed in 1718. The play was written by Susanna Centlivre, one of the first professional female playwrights. Critics have described A Bold Stroke For A Wife as “perhaps the finest example of Centlivre's masterful plotting of comic intrigue.”
