Abstract

"Vote The Out, All of Them!" Presented by Professor of the Year, Kathleen Montgomery, Associate Professor of Political Science - will lead a class on contemporary right wing populism that exploded onto the scene in Europe in the 1980s. Anti-elite, anti-immigrant, anti-welfare, and often anti-EU: these parties have become permanent features of the party political landscape. It remains an open question whether the current voter anger in the US--captured in the Tea Party movement and the bumper sticker, "Vote them Out! (All of 'em)"--will become similarly institutionalized.
