Award Description
Judge Underwood, McLean County Judge since 1946, is a vigorous exponent of juvenile rehabilitation. He has translated this interest into action through such organizations as the Illinois Commission on Children and Youth, the Child Guidance Clinic, and the Baby Fold. He was given the Good Government Award by the Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1953. Judge Underwood, a University of Illinois College of Law graduate, is active in the Normal Methodist Church, the Masons, the Illinois Welfare Association, and the McLean County Bar Association. He served a term as alumni trustee on the joint board of Illinois Wesleyan University.
