Award Description
This award recognizes alumni and friends who have benefited Illinois Wesleyan either through service lO the University, strong financial support, or both. While a student at Illinois Wesleyan, Chuck was a member of Blue Key National Men's Honor Society, received the E Spencer Mortimer Chemistry Award, and shared his talents in the marching and concert bands as an opportunity to make more friends on campus. For many years Chuck has volunteered as Class Chair, Leadership Agent, Homecoming Reunion Chair, Class Newsletter Editor and member of the Science Advisory Board, Board of Visitors, and Board of Trustees. He has also provided summer employment and internships for !WU students. He and his wife Beatrice contribute to Illinois Wesleyan's Annual Fund, Capital Campaign, and Horenberger Baseball Field. After graduating in 1957, Chuck earned a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Kansas. Following post-doctoral research at Johns Hopkins University, Chuck joined the pharmaceutical firm, Parke-Davis, which later merged with Warner-Lambert then with Pfizer. Chuck retired from Pfizer in February of 2004 after a 40-year career. Chuck and Beatrice reside in Holland, Michigan and are the parents of David and Nancy. They are and have been avid participants in various athletic activities, natural food cooking, model ship building and railroading, classical music, church activities, and summer youth camp leaders.
