Award Description
Cathy Luginbill makes a career and life out of helping people. Professionally, Luginbill is director of cardiac rehabilitation programs at Alta Bates Medical Center in Berkeley, Calif., and associate clinical professor in the graduate division at the University of California, San Francisco, where she received her master's degree in cardiovascular pathophysiology in 1980. While staying active in a variety of community groups, she serves as president of the regional chapter of the American Heart Association and as vice president of the Califronia Society for Cardiac Rehabilityion. A nursing major, Luginbill has been an active participant in Wesleyan functions since her days as a student, when she participated in Student Senate, Mom's day, Homecoming, cheerleading, Dad's day, and Greek Week. Since graduation, she has stayed active with the Sigma Kappa Sorority, has served as a class agent (from 1973 to 1980), a class chair (1980-81), and as a volunteer on the San Francisco regional Alumni Committee. Initiated by her friends, the Cathy Luginbill Endowed Nursing Scholarship was established in 1992 in honor of Luginbill's dedication to her profession and Illinois Wesleyan University.
