Abstract
This project, based on paintings, femininity, and ekphrasis, is dedicated to all who have experienced womanhood and femininity. If you haven’t, I hope you can still read through these poems and use the visual imagery, which was inspired by paintings depicting different women, to imagine yourself in the situations on the page. The purpose of this project was to personify the paintings and recreate the feminine experience, from love to enduring the apocalypse, and to do so in a way that reflects the work of artists featured and my own experiences. I wanted to give these paintings stories, context, and make them relatable to the women who see them, while also allowing others to view the experience from the outside.
