Abstract
The climate crisis is a prevalent topic with every country facing the consequences of a warming world. The loss of biodiversity, mass extinctions of flora and fauna, and severe weather patterns are all contributing to a changing environment. In science fiction literature, many novels focus on the potential total destruction of planet earth, merging the lines of fantasy and fiction. The influence that literature has over the attitudes of its readers can push for the action needed to combat climate change. By using French and American academic studies, I explore the themes of our current environmental trajectory before determining how well they are reflected in selected French science fiction which address a world affected by climate change.
