Abstract
Protein-protein interactions combine to form protein-protein interaction networks (PPINs). Interacting proteins are likely to participate in the same biological processes, have related functions, and have common evolutionary origins, which make PPINs an important source of biological insight into the function and evolution of individual proteins and of complex biological systems. Software for visualizing PPINs is used to analyze the network of a single species, but the alignment of networks from separate species provides additional insights into the evolutionary origins of the proteins within their respective networks. This research project aims to develop a web tool for visualizing and analyzing the alignment of PPINs for meaningful scientific analysis.
