Abstract

This project will focus on GaAs based diode-like sensors, and discuss how solutions of all types of amino acids with varying pH factor values can be detected by using voltage and current measurements. The GaAs based diode-like sensors are a scalable semiconductor chip platform made with a “P-I-N trilayer of GaAs”. Once the raw data is graphed we can detect amino acids and mixtures of amino acids due to the differences in the conductivity of each individual amino acid. There is a strong interest in quantifying the concentrations of each amino acid within the mixture's contents. There is interest to further this research to use similar techniques to be able to detect various non-biological chemicals as well.
