Title at time of award
Chief Executive Officer, Westminster Village
Description
Matt Riehle is a graduate of the class of 1997 and is the Chief Executive Officer of Westminster Village and its Foundation. Matt has dedicated his career to senior living and care of the older adult. Getting his first start in long term care in 1997 at Martin Health Center before becoming the Director of Nursing at McLean County Nursing home in the early 2000s. His duties with the county were vast, including assisting with county jail operations during leadership transitions. Matt was recruited back to Westminster in 2013. Matt is very active in serving the community with service to multiple boards including on the Heartland College Board, the Normal Rotary club, and in many leadership roles for LeadingAge Illinois. His nominator wrote this to describe Matt’s impact:
“Only a true servant leader could thrive in senior living through the terrible reimbursement of service at a county facility, a $70 Million dollar expansion at Westminster, and a pandemic. At a time when skilled nursing care was extremely short of help, Westminster did not have to use any clinical agency staff to supplement staffing. This is because of Matt’s leadership. Matt knows every one of Westminster’s 400 residents and the over 300 employees…all of whom would second this nomination!”
