Title of Position

Copyright/Document Delivery Coordinator- Ames Library

Description

Tony Heaton, llinois Wesleyan University’s Document Delivery and Copyright Coordinator, was named the winner of the University’s Max. L. Starkey Service Award at the Fall Breakfast in the Young Main Lounge of Memorial Center on Friday. In his role at The Ames Library at Illinois Wesleyan, Heaton coordinates all print items requested by faculty, staff and students. According to University Librarian Karen Schmidt, Heaton works with as many as 13,000 requests and transactions per year. In one nomination for the Starkey award, Heaton was described as “instrumental for scholarly activity.” Another cites that the “flawless execution of his duties take away a potential source of daily stress for many of us.” Heaton, who came to Illinois Wesleyan in 1999, previously worked at Milner Library at Illinois State University and was the director of the children’s department at the Lexington Public Library.

And now, this year’s clues…

  • In this person’s nomination, he or she was described as “positive and up beat,” “loyal” and always willing to “go beyond the call of duty.”
  • This person’s job requires the soul of an investigator.
  • He or she might handle as many as 13,000 cases a year.
  • He often works with the Illiad, but Ulysses is never in sight.
  • He always does things by the book and is tough to copy, right?
  • I would now like to ask Tony Heaton, Copyright/Document Delivery Coordinator – Ames Library to come forward as our 2010 Starkey Award winner.
