Abstract

This event took place on May 12, 2000. It marked the beginning of the transformation of Illinois Wesleyan's Memorial Gymnasium, which opened in 1922, to the Hansen Student Center, which opened in January 2002.

Speakers (in order of appearance): James Matthews, Dean of Students; Harold Gauthier '00, Emeritus Student Senate President; Matt Glavin '01, Student Senate President; Thomas Hansen '82.

Following the Wallbreaking, closing remarks are offered by Craig C. Hart, President, IWU Board of Trustees.

Provost Janet McNew was the first person to actually make a dent in the wall (approx. minute marker 13:34).
