Following the reading of the Award Certificate by Henry Charles, Miss LeMay spoke briefly expressing gratitude for her Wesleyan experiences and for the wonderful life which she has been privileged to enjoy in her effort to upgrade the teaching of moral and spiritual values in public education through local, state, and national organizations. Her Award Certificate read - "Mary Ruth Le May, Class of 1922 - by these presents you know that you are the object of our esteem and that the Illinois Wesleyan University Alumni Association recognizes you officially for the honor which you have brought to the University through your career as a dedicated teacher and guidance counselor, a leader in education professional activities through local, state, and national organizations, a tirelesss crusader for high ethical moral standards in public education, and a loyal alumna of your alma mater."
