Award Description
The longtime Chair of the Rockford, IL Regional Alumni Club, Alice still remains a very active member of the committee. Alice attends every Rockford Alumni event and always makes new members feel very welcome. As chair of her 60th class reunion, she reached out to every member of her class to encourage them to attend Homecoming and acted as mistress of ceremonies for the Golden Titans Reunion Dinner. Alice has a long family history in the Bloomington/Normal Community and comes from a very long line of relatives who attended IWU including three uncles, her mother, her sister, and her late husband Bob, 1949. Alice is proud that 13 of her relatives were Kappa Kappa Gammas at IWU; she served as president of the Rockford KKG Alumni Chapter for two years. She has been a consistent donor to the Wesleyan Fund for over 15 consecutive years. Alice received Certification as Volunteer Administrator through the National Association of Volunteer Administrators, and served on the Steering Committee for Rock Valley College Curriculum Development Human Services Department, among many other accomplishments. She is Past President of the Northern Illinois Southern Wisconsin Assoc. of Volunteer Administrators and was named Volunteer Coordinator of the Year by Northern Illinois Southern Wisconsin Association of Volunteer Coordinators. She was president of the Rockford Chapter Lyric Opera Chicago and is the Deputy Voter Registrar for the League of Women Voters and president of the Winnebago / Boone Counties Genealogical Society. Alice was the recipient of the ATHENA Award in 1994 and was honored as Senior Citizen of the Year by the Rockford Area Council on Aging. Alice continually promotes the University to young people she comes in contact with through her numerous volunteer activities.
