Award Description
With her natural ability to convince others that IWU is worthy of their support, Nancy Brown Bicket has been one of the University's greatest assets. For the past three years she has generated enthusiasm among volunteers and prospective donors as board president of The Wesleyan Fund. She is also a member of the President's Club and the IWU Board of Visitors, has served as a class agent, and was a member of the Alumni Council. A manager at State Farm Insurance, she holds the Certificate in Data Processing and Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designations. As the State Farm data processing liaison to Wesleyan, she makes periodic presentations to students interested in data processing careers. For the past two years, she has managed the "pen systems" area at State Farm, leading the effort to research and validate use of lightweight, portable "notebook" computers that use a pen or stylus as the method of input rather than a keyboard. The mother of Robin, 18, Nancy is married to Robert M, Bicket '67, whose late father, James H. Bicket, was an Illinois Wesleyan trustee.
