Abstract

My presentation will be a poster and oral presentation of my Political Science research paper. My research paper aims to examine the motives behind Catalonia's desire to gain independence from Spain, asking the question, since 2000 how has the nature of Catalonia's movement away from Spain changed? I aim to examine four different aspects of Catalonia's movement, or motivators towards independence, including the role of the European Union, economics, immigration, and political party influence. By analyzing these four motivators, I hope to determine which one may have had the most impact on Catalonia's movement towards independence from Spain.
