Abstract
Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study is to report on how lifestyle choices and wellness of nurses have an influence on their patients. This includes but is not limited to both nurses and patients attitudes towards healthy lifestyles, promotion of these healthy lifestyles, as well as barriers that might affect these choices.
Background: Healthy lifestyles are largely promoted in different aspects of one’s life, but especially in healthcare settings. This term of “healthy lifestyle” goes hand in hand with the term of “wellness”, in which it means to routinely practice healthy habits in order to prevent health deviations and promote overall health (both mental and physical health). Specifically in the healthcare setting, nurses and other healthcare professionals have an important part in promoting these habits in order to positively influence their patients, however if negative attitudes arise from these professionals it can create barriers for patients.
Method: This research is a literature review and analysis of mixed methods, including quantitative, qualitative, and other literature reviews. These papers were reviewed and interpreted in order to determine the influence of nurses’ perspectives on health lifestyles on their patients’.
