Abstract
Many individuals correlate grief with the pain and suffering it comes with, but they fail to distinguish the beauty of what they’re also feeling. It’s not to say that grief can’t be a negative experience; it’s that we must reprogram our minds to understand the full scope of our emotions. Through song and poetry, many artists have spoken about the grief they’ve experienced, turning it into art, something beautiful. I believe that it’s crucial to turn our pain and suffering into art because the alternative would be to dwell in it and only see the ugly side. This matters because grief is something we’re all destined to experience in some point in our lives and it’s important to create new neural pathways in our brain to create positive and healing thought patterns.
