Abstract
Alice Fairchild Heath majored in Sociology, served as Kappa Kappa Gamma Registrar, and was a member of the Spanish Club, and the Women's Sports Association. She is the recipient of the 2013 Alumni Loyalty Award. An excerpt from the award citation follows.
"A few of Alice’s accomplishments include receiving Certification as Volunteer Administrator through the National Association of Volunteer Administrators, and serving on the Steering Committee for Rock Valley College Curriculum Development Human Services Dept. In addition, she is Past President of the Northern Illinois Southern Wisconsin Assoc. of Volunteer Administrators and she was named Volunteer Coordinator of the Year by Northern Illinois Southern Wisconsin Association of Volunteer Coordinators.
"She was president of the Rockford Chapter Lyric Opera Chicago and is the Deputy Voter Registrar for the League of Women Voters and president of the Winnebago / Boone Counties Genealogical Society. Alice was the recipient of the ATHENA Award in 1994 and was honored as Senior Citizen of the Year by the Rockford Area Council on Aging. Alice continually promotes the University to young people she comes in contact with through her numerous volunteer activities."
Mrs. Heath also served as president of the League of Women Voters for two years in 1969 and 1970, and in 1972 she was only the 3rd woman elected to the Rockford Board of Education.
