Jerry M. Israel was a Professor of History at Illinois Wesleyan University, 1974-1988. He was recognized for teaching excellence in 1975 and 1981. The interview available here was digitized from three sides of two audio cassettes in fall of 2018. Dr. Israel identified the interviewer as Ed Alsene.
The original recording is undated but Israel mentions having only been on campus a comparatively short time and being surprised at the announcement that he will receive the teaching award, then known as the Century Club Award, so the estimated date is 1981. He also cites his Honors Day 1975 speech. Records related to those two events are available at digitalcommons.iwu.edu/teaching_excellence/65 and digitalcommons.iwu.edu/teaching_excellence/43
