About
Welcome to Titan Humantias!
Illinois Wesleyan is full of vibrant student researchers and this journal is a platform to showcase the work they are doing on and off of campus. Titan Humanitas highlights exceptional scholarship submitted by current undergraduate students and recent graduates from across our campus that is creative, authentic, thought provoking, and pushes us to think deeply about the human experience and the world around us. The journal’s core focus is humanistic inquiry surrounding the human experience, and understanding, appreciating, examining, and responding to intellectual, historical, moral, and artistic traditions. Our goal is to engage students in every stage of the publishing process with student editors, student-faculty collaboration of scholarship, editing, polishing, and finishing with the release of a polished physical and digital journal. Titan Humanitas also spotlights undergraduate research that moves beyond text in the digital humanities, these projects will be available soon on our website! We publish one annual volume per year in the early spring with rolling submissions throughout the academic year.
Our Story
In 2024, the chairs of Philosophy, English, History, and World Languages, Literatures and Cultures came together to create a shared journal that would showcase exceptional undergraduate research in the humanities. Students named the journal Titan Humanitas to highlight its Illinois Wesleyan roots and focus on understanding the human experience through language, literature, history and philosophy. The student-run journal is housed and funded by the Center for the Humanities at Illinois Wesleyan University and embraces humanistic research throughout campus. Titan Humanitas published and printed its first issue in the Spring of 2026 and since then has opened up rolling submissions and this digital journal.
