Submission Guidelines
Who Can Submit?
We are a student-run academic journal dedicated to promoting research and knowledge in various disciplines within the humanities. Our mission is to spotlight IWU students’ original and outstanding research in the humanities, including but not limited to English, history, world languages, literatures and cultures and philosophy.
All authors must be current undergraduates at IWU, or IWU alumni within one year of completing their undergraduate degree. To be eligible for submission, the scholarly work conducted by students must be a part of their academic coursework, faculty-mentored, or independent research projects.
Submitted manuscripts cannot be published or undergoing review in another research journal (undergraduate or otherwise).
Length of Submissions
We will accept both shorter papers (1500-2000 words) and longer research/seminar papers (2500-6000 words).
No works may exceed 6,000 words and before submitting you must format your paper to the Titan Humanitas template. If you have concerns about the submission terms for Titan Humanitas, please contact the editors.
Before Submitting
We encourage you to submit research completed during your coursework at Illinois Wesleyan, however, you should revise/polish it for the journal.
Think about:
1. Readers who may not have been in your class and need further explanation of key concepts or expansion of particular sections.
2. Writing is revision. Be sure to read through your submission and cut any repetition, frame your argument so that it makes sense to a general audience, and refine the structure to flow easily. Your work should be clear and free of typographical or grammatical errors.
3. Meet with the faculty member who helped you with the first version of your paper and ask how you might expand and revise.
It is understood that the current state of technology of Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF) is such that there are no, and can be no, guarantees that documents in PDF will work perfectly with all possible hardware and software configurations that readers may have.
